Helpful Horticultural Links
Gardening is a subject with a seemingly infinite number of "experts" and it can be hard to know which ones to trust. When researching, it is important to keep the following questions in mind:
What are this person's professional credentials, and are they relevant to the topic at hand?
Are they trying to sell me a product?
Are their claims backed up by peer reviewed scientific research?
This is a short collection of our go-to sources for garden related information:
The Garden Professors
Top notch science-based gardening advice from a friendly bunch of PhD horticulturists. Also find them on facebook.
Dr. Linda Chalker-Scott
One of the aforementioned professors. A resident of Seattle WA, Linda offers endless advice relevant to the Pacific Northwest. Her horticultural myths page is highly recommended reading!

Plant Amnesty
Another Seattle resident, the late Cass Turnbull, formed this mock militant group in 1987 in order to stop the senseless torture and mutilation of shrubs and trees. Before you think of topping that tree in your yard, give this page a visit.
International Society of Arboriculture
Through research, technology, and education, the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) promotes the professional practice of arboriculture and fosters a greater worldwide awareness of the benefits of trees.
